Bump.

Just a reminder, this is tomorrow evening.
Bump...

And I am not "bumping" it because I am expecting anything "major"....

Just it is intresting to actually "hear" what they say, instead of reading transcripts or other people "worderings" on what they say

Is this going to be one of those things where there will be powerpoint downloads available?
I think it is just going to be the webcast...

Hopefully "after" we would get a PDF or something
From WebCast: Estimated 6 months till close the deal with Liberty. Liberty shares a similar ideas... on the direction of DirecTV. (In reference to their current plans)
Regarding DishNetwork merger:
The Media is about 10 times further along in the story... then what is really happening. There would be synergy if something did happen.

There would be issues, some of the same from 4 years ago.
With a regulatory challenges.

DirecTV's focus is "DirecTV"
Agrees that Cable is focusing on the "Bundle" (reference to TriplePlay).
Chase feels they are competting "well" with the bundle.

HD will be a "signature" event for DirecTV.
Talked about the 100 Channel announcement from yesterday, in 2007.
Best in entertainment, news, and sports, and movies.

Will be one of the tent-polls.
Sports again, will be another focus of content... Nascar, NCAA Basketball.

HD is priority #1... very important.

It is all about "Marring content, to the technology"

Broadband Offering:

Liberty deal is a factor in it.
They feal DirecTV is okay for the next few years, with regards to Broadband...

In 3 to 5 time year... is when it becomes more relavent that DirecTV has to consider their own Broadband features, rather then partnering with Telephny companies.

They would like to be a factor in people's choice... of broadband.
The technology is changing still... and should evolve into a third choice of broadband types.

DirecTV is activly engaged with the parties out there with regarding some of the new broadband opportunites.
Customer service is at the TOP of things they are concerned about.
They are NOT where they would like to be with Customer Service.

2006 had some growing pains, with HD and the HD-DVR.
Working out the bugs, and they are getting the HDDVR where they want it to be.

They are working on building their Installer Network.
Growing the company, put some pressure on the customer service area.

Technology is one of the Tent Poles, Customer Service is another.
They are in an investiment cycle, focusing on HD.
Sat Launches, and enhancements to the ground infrastruction.
The lease was to capitalize the set-top box, to amortirize over 3 years.

NFL Contract is 2011
Okay...
At the end they spent a good chunk of time talking even more about broadband... and a theoretical merge with EchoStar...

But it was a lot of financial stuff... no real technical or anything really more then we already knew.

It was about a 40 minute webcast... so when they post it... give it a download, and hear it for yourself.
