Does anyone else find it annoying to download DIRECTV bills as PDF?

DIRECTV offers a link for "View Bill" but it doesn't show your bills, instead you have to choose "View Statement" after "View Bill". Why?

When you want the bills as PDF it's annoying to have to bounce back and forth, and it makes no sense to me that DIRECTV just doesn't take you directly to your bills when you click View Bills.

You start on the Account Overview page and see the handy "View Bills" link...

But if you click "View Bills" above, you don't see your bills. Instead, you are on a Statements page where you see that you're enrolled in paperless billing, but you don't actually actually see your bills...

So then you click "View Statemnets" above and finally see a Summary page listing your bills ...

Now to see the bill you click a date and finally see the bill viewed within a frame, with a handy drop-down for selecting other statements...

But when you want the bill as a PDF you need to click DOWNLOAD and then you get the PDF View...

But notice what's now missing? The drop-down for other statements. So if you want to print other months as PDF, you are back to Square One, needing to click "View Bills" and then "View My Statements".

There is definitely an opportunity for DIRECTV to clean up the bill presentation section of their website to make it easier for their paperless customers...

Doesn't bother me in the least, as my bills come via Email (doesn't everyone's?).

And I'd certainly never need to see it as a pdf.

They could get rid of the ability to view bills altogether and I'd be OK.

I would be happy just to be able to view a bill before they charge my credit card. As it is now, they charge the credit card before they even post the bill. Guess that is so if there is an error, they can use your money for 30 days before crediting it back...since you have no option to debate the mistake before the charge.

Actually though, I do find it annoying. Although my Time Warner internet bill is almost as annoying to pull up the pdf of my bill.

I dont ever even look at my bill. Because nothing ever changes it is exactly the same amount every month (give or take a few cents). Of course, were that amount to change I'd go in and look at it.

To the OP, you are probably using FireFox as your browser and I typically do as well. I noticed on some websites, IE works better and for your pdf issue, that is the case. Using IE, the first part to get a list of statements is still the same. When you go to download a pdf though, it does a pop up of the pdf and leaves the "back to summary" option (see attachment) on the screen. When you click on that, you go back to all the statements. So your choice of browser may be causing some of the issues.

I file all my eBills and don't want the email header portion in my electronic copy. I want the closest facsimile to a paper bill I can get, and the "Download" option gives the cleanest PDF, with no web page headings or anything else.

Yeah ... easiest change would be to list the summary of bills as soon as someone clicks "View Bills", so I don't have to do that and then click "View Statements".

This would be like a phone system that says "press 1 for billing" and then says again "press 2 for your bill", but gives no other options. Just cut to the chase already and show the bills!

I hate IE with a passion, though, and DIRECTV should know that they need to support browsers other than IE. (And by support I mean provided the same consistent responses regardless of which browser is used!)

Oh well, if nothing else, maybe Satelliteracer or someone else from DIRECTV will see this and take appropriate action to streamline the statements section of the website. I can dream.

It's under view bills -> view my statements. Unless it's different for those still on paper bills.

In the past, if you had paper bills, you could not see them on-line. I don't know if that has changed as I've been paperless for a few years now.

I don't like using IE either, but it seems to be the standard that website developers cater to. On the pdf issue, here is a workaround. After displaying the pdf, if you back browser in Firefox or Chrome , you will get the statement date drop down and the "back to summary" option. Then you can choose another month to display. Of course a fix for all browsers would be better.

Or if you must print pdf's, just do it each month, then you don't need to go back and print others.
