HEY!!!!:hurah:
I thought that was pretty much a given anyway. Obviously, this makes it official.

Read the rest of the story at TV PredictionsWashington, D.C. (November 20, 2006) -- DIRECTV confirmed tonight that it will carry the NFL Network's 2006 regular season games in High-Definition TV, beginning with the Thanksgiving night broadcast between Denver and Kansas City.
....
IIRC... The spaceway sats they are using to provide the locals, are not CONUS sats. Hence why they are focusing more on the items that are spotbeamable... vs repeating the channel in each spot beam.mitchelljd said:yeah, this is a good thing.
A better thing would be them launching the new national HD sat's NOW!!
DIRECTV has had anemic national HD instead doing their offerings of local HD broadcasts in more markets.
why couldnt they have instead also launched maybe 5-10 more nationals at same time? and done 1-2 less markets?
Yeah - I know D* would put them up if they could. Big ad in the Denver Post today from Dish claiming to have more HD channels than everyone else (They will probably milk this ad till the sats go up).Earl Bonovich said:IIRC... I wish it where that simple that they could use "fling" the new SATs up there... however... from everything I have learned over the years.... there is so much stinking red tape, procedures, launch windows, testing, ect.... it just isn't that easy to launch them now...
As I am sure DirecTV would if they could, launch them right now.
It should be in HD on your local affiliate... as it "should" be the exact same feed as the NFL Network.... as that is the arrangement they have in place for the ESPN games (With local affiliates).Reggie3 said:I saw that Fox locally here in Dever is carrying the Bronco game but it is not listed as HD (though they broadcast in HD) I wonder if they will carry it? I wonder if D* will black out the HD NFL broadcast here because of it??
I'm posting it on our local forums to see if anyone knows officially. I'm becoming a real snob now that I got my 60" SXRD - as I have to spend thanksgiving over at friends homes this year and instead of looking forward to all the good company food and drink - I am already missing seeing the games on a large screen in HD. Sigh - I am corrupted.Earl Bonovich said:It should be in HD on your local affiliate... as it "should" be the exact same feed as the NFL Network.... as that is the arrangement they have in place for the ESPN games (With local affiliates).
I haven't yet seen a year where it was blacked out from the "cable" broadcast, when it was simulcasted on the local affiliate.
I disagree with this. ESPN2 HD has carried a lot college football games in HD this past season. A lot of those were on while another HD game was on ESPN-HD. I'm sure that this will be the case a lot during the college basketball season. As a huge college sports fan, especially basketball, I very much appreciate ESPN2-HD. ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD are the two national HD channels I watch the most. Much more so than TNT-HD, HBO-HD, or Showtime HD.mitchelljd said:espn 2 as a national hd network for Directv? makes very little sense
Isn't Monday night football on ESPN2 also?uncrules said:I disagree with this. ESPN2 HD has carried a lot college football games in HD this past season. No. It is on ESPNHD.Reggie3 said:Isn't Monday night football on ESPN2 also?
Probably none... given that 95 is the standing special events HD channel.wingrider01 said:I wonder what other channel in the HD package Directv is going to turn off while they broadcast these games
LOL! I was thinking the same thing, but they aren't also broadcasting 4 or 6 more games in HD at the same time like on Sunday, so I'm sure it's not an issue.wingrider01 said:I wonder what other channel in the HD package Directv is going to turn off while they broadcast these games
Sounds like Sea Launch needs som competition.... Time to find an abandonded oil rig for a floating launchpad and som old abandond ocean liner for command central......Earl Bonovich said:It should be in HD on your local affiliate... as it "should" be the exact same feed as the NFL Network.... as that is the arrangement they have in place for the ESPN games (With local affiliates).
