Is there any advantage to using a Dish 500 over a Dish 300 to receive the satellite signal at 61.5? Also, I have a dish installed that receives three satellites but since 129 is so weak, it's only receiving 110 and 119. A separate dish picks up 129.
To get optimum reception, would it be best to replace the Dish 1000 (not sure if that's what it is) with a Dish 500 to pick up 110 and 119 and aim the Dish 300 at 61.5? FWIW, my switch is a DPP44.

A dish 500 with "I" adapter would be the best, using the full 20" size of the dish 500. The 300 or 500 with "Y" adapter are virtually the same at 18" effective reflective surface. A dish 1000.2 would be the current alternative for 110/119/129. You can realign for 61.5 or wait for Ciel2 to be launched in November.

No, because each dish is designed for its purpose.

The D300 is designed to provide a specific signal level at one focal point.

The D500 is designed to provide a similar signal level at foci along a line 6-8 inches long.

Theoretically anywhere along that line you get signal level X, so they have to be larger to get the same signal level on a defocused dish.

Even a D1000 with one lnb will still only get you a signal at level X, because it , being larger is further defocused to supply signal over a larger area (longer line).

The onlyway to guarantee higher signal is to have a lower noise lnb or a larger single focus dish.

I'd like to see you pickup 110/119 & 129 on a 1000.4 which is what the question was about and what is the availability of the 1000.4 for existing customers?

I have my second Dish 500 hooked up with a Y adapter. It was installed my Dish installers many years ago when the extra locals use to be on 61.5.

I asked about the I adapter and the helpful people said it might improve your reception a little bit but you would have to realign your dish. I won't do it because I have no idea how to realign a dish.
