Hello,

About 3 months ago, my 508 stopped working and Dish sent a ("new" -- refurbished) unit. It had problems and Dish sent me another one as well. Anyway, after about a week with each one, my discrete power on remote code stopped working. I have searched the forums and tried the the hardware reset by holding the power button on the 508 as well as unplugging it with no success.

If I turn the unit off, the discrete "ON" will work, but only for a few minutes. Another wierd thing is it started working for about 3 weeks and then stopped again. Dish will not help me because they said that they don't support discrete commands. Current software is P363.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I saw the same thing, but it started a couple of releases ago.

I found that the "on" would not turn on the 508 after it had been off for some period of time and the "off" would then turn it on. After that, an "on" would leave it on and "off" would turn it off. For some short period of time, the discretes work correctly.

I never bothered to figure out how long the period of time was.

I changed the SAT macro for my remote to something like:

508 off
tv on
stereo to SAT input
tv to SAT input
508 on

This always works for me now.
