Dish alignment - problems with 103

I think my dish may be a bit off - I have solid locals in HD, but nationals are really spotty in the past few weeks to completely unavailable recently. I have a signal meter, but it needs a power adapter, which I have ordered, but it won't get here until next week. Until then, does anyone have any suggestions on fine tuning?

101 - range of 77 to 98 - just fine

110 - tsp 10 = 80, tsp 12 = 89

119 - starting at tsp 22 - 91, 80, 85, 79, 91, 91, 90, 86, 91, 0 92

Now for the new sats:

99c -

1-8 57 48 53 47 58 46 54 46
9-16 57 44 53 43 58 45 NA NA

99s - NYC area
1-8 88 0 83 0 52 21 NA NA
9-16 NA NA NA NA NA NA 0 0
17-24 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

103s - NYC area
1-8 0 0 0 0 0 0 NA NA
9-16 NA NA NA NA NA NA 0 0
17-24 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

103c -
1-8 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
9-16 0 0 0 0 0 0 NA NA

It's just all zeros now on the 103 - but 110 and 119 are ok, which would suggest my tilt is OK - its a azimuth and elevation thing. The dish is currently screwed into the side of the house through the wood shingle siding, and I'm wondering if that just isn't a solid enough surface. My national HD has been great for 9 months until early to mid August, and now its just nothing.

First thing to check is the dish mount foot. Getting loose? Dish sag from it own weight? Couple of turns of a wrench might straighten things up. But it may be a constant problem if not secured into a house frame member.
Looks like you need to re-plumb your mast and re-align. :(
I'll check it tomorrow and make sure it's secure and plumb.

Thanks,

Chris
Thanks, that was it!

The weight of the dish had split the shingle it was screwed into, which allowed the dish to sag downwards. I saw from a level that the mast was tilting forward, away form the house.

I put some shims under the shingle and the signals returned.

This weekend, I'll have to come up with a way to better secure it to the house. It may involve a little bit of construction and painting to make it look acceptable - but at least I know what to do now.

Thanks again.
Nothing like a good weekend project when the goal is clear and achievable! :)

Look into installing a pair of monopoles, which I assume you don't have. Will help distribute the weight over a larger area and hopefully allow a longer lag bolt to penetrate a larger house frame stud.
