Dish Antenna Dish Broke

2311 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Nurseryman
My new Dish antenna dish was broken. Not sure how....vandals, kids,?????

The "part" that sits out on the arm and points back at the dish was yanked off and the plastic bracket that holds it onto the arm is cracked.

I need to get this repaired and would appreciate any advice.

The part (157105) sell for about $10 on ebay. Will calling DISH result in a $95 tech. fee?

Any suggestions? Thank you. I don't have the protection plan.

if the LNBF is broken that'll cost some more. I'd add the Protection Plan and call Dish.
The Protection Plan states that it will not cover physical damage from "anything".........hail, wind, etc..

Also, can I sign up for the protection plan, then immediately ask for a repair call?

Thank you.
Yes, you can but you cannot cancel for over a month (not sure of how long off the top of my head). I added once after confirming a receiver had to be replaced and the replacement was covered. This will not be covered though. You should be able to see if lnb works before ordering the replacement part if you can have someone hold the lnb in place. This should also give you a chance to verify what type of lnb you may need.
Also, do what I'm going to do and install fencing and tripwire mines to keep the neighborhood riff raff out. One of those solutions may be violating the Geneva Conventions, though... :)
If you add the Protection Plan, the first technician visit is at no charge. If you remove the Protection Plan before 120 days, there is a $25 cancellation charge; after 120 days, no charge to remove. If you have further questions, please let me know. Thanks.

A belated follow up to give credit where due.

I signed up for the protection plan and everything went very well. A DISH tech. was out the very next day to fix things.

Thanks all. This time I have to credit DISH for excellent service.
