Broadcasting & Cable reports that Dish Network has added its voice to some small cable companies which are asking the FCC for a "quiet period" regarding retransmission fees around the time of the digital conversion next February.
The quiet period would force broadcasters to maintain status quo, preventing them from renegotiating consent fees or pulling their stations. At least around the time when the stations change from analog to digital.
Dish added that it also wants the FCC to also fix the "broken" retransmission-consent process, but we already knew that.
