Who can I contact about getting the Dish Network / Excede internet bundle? Or find out if it's available in my area northwest Wisconsin? I already have Dish.

Call Dish 1-800-333-3474 and ask for the bundle. Consider that Excede/Wildblue is designed for rural areas, there is another option like cable/DSL internet you will be better off with that. Free access policy limits your monthly bandwidth usage, pay up to $130/month for max capacity. Up to 12 meg download speed is nice, but also consider latency, not great for gaming.
You may want to quickly read through the exede - Viasat's new satellite internet service thread.

I have a friend who previously only could use dialup but who had observed others using previous satellite internet services and decided there wasn't much to gain. He now has exede and is very happy.

But Wire Nut's advice is correct. If you have access to a cable/dsl service you likely would be better off with it.
I have DSL now but it it really sucks, as in S L O W . I got spoiled by Charter high speed. Now where I live the CenturyLink DSL is the only thing I can get, we must be near the end of the line and it is almost as slow as dial up. Plus since my wife and I have cell phones we don't need a land line phone so they are raping us for $64 per month for DSL only.

What you're describing is why I used "likely" in my previous post. Latency is the only significant difference with satellite internet and it is not an issue for my friend. In fact he hardly notices it, since he's not a gamer. And unless you want to stream a lot of video, the caps on excede service do not seem too constrictive to live with.

What is your internet usage? Satellite usage caps make the service nearly useless for people who like to do anything beyond email and light surfing and with very high prices. I think Exide's top tier gives you a 25gb cap for $130(?). While the base tier is 7.5gb for $50(?) (if I remember correctly). Satellite internet is basically a service for people who can't get anything beyond dial-up and are desperate. If you were spoiled by Charter, you'll really hate the limitations of satellite internet.

At the websites I visit, people quickly drop satellite internet when dsl or even a WISP comes in.
Also look into WIMAX, open the phone book under internet providers and see if you have a local wireless internet provider.
Either way you go, be sure to do adequate research before signing a 24 month contract.
Since I have always had unlimited, I have no idea what my usage is? My wife likes to play those slot machine games from facebook "slot mania" for hours, other than that I use it for message boards, weather radar, and normal web browsing.
We have no wifi and no 3g from cell tower, sounds like I should just stick with unlimited slow dsl even for $10 more per month. Exede $49.99 + $9.99 lease fee per month minus $5 for Dish bundle is still around $56 per month for 7.5 gb limit

You will NOT like satellite.

Any satellite ISP.
In much of Northern California, The New AT&T abandoned all truly rural service areas. Yeah, the regulators forced them to keep ownership of the land line service, but no AT&T DSL. Unless you happen to be in a smaller lot rural subdivision like me and have the major cable connection running nearby, cable is not an option.

In those situations, Excede appears to offer a desirable alternative to dialup at about the same price as Comcast, but does have caps and latency, though they have some caching tricks to reduce the latency to a frequently unnoticeable level.

But we do spend time on our computers and while we don't stream much, we do check out some YouTube videos, get a lot of email, pay bills on line, post here, keep up with family on Facebook, download new software versions, etc. Our usuage is creeping up with last month being a high month, so that 7.5Gb limit would crimp our style:

At least I have a fast high speed isp at work. I guess we will just live with the slow dsl at home, those limits don't sound good. It just kills me to have to pay over $60 per month for slow speed, but I could never go back to dial up.
Go to this site and enter your zip code and see what Exede service is available to you...you're close to the edge of ViaSat-1 with 12mbs service or using an augmented beam from Anik-F2 or WB-1 with 5mbs service.
