Dish Mover

I am a Dish Network customer in the middle of a year contract with 4 receivers (Top 100 package plus HBO) hooked up in my current residence. Today I called to schedule Dish Mover. They wanted to charge me 75 dollars because I wasn't a Top 150 customer and another 50 dollars for some kind of switch. I went ahead and upgraded to the 150 package because it was only 9 dollars a month more to my service (which is cheaper than paying 75 dollars for basically nothing), but can I give the installer at the new place the existing switch from my old place so I won't have to pay an extra $50? (the guy on the phone told me the will never pick up the old dish)

Now, here's the next step of my problem. I am rooming in the new place with a person that has another Dish 500 dish. Can we use his second dish to pick up Sky Angel programming from a different satellite? And if so, is there any additional hardware we need to set this up?

Find out exactly what the $50 is for. Ask what type of switch you are buying. You are the consumer. I think they will put in a Quad LNB which basically receives signal from both satellites (119 and 110) and supports up to 4 receivers. But we just install it with the Dish Mover package. Also, $75 bucks isn't unreasonable to ask to reinstall you, but you did the right thing by upgrading to the 150 package for only $9 more a month.
My problem with the $50 is that the way I understood it, I was under a contract for a year where I didn't have to buy any equipment. So why am I forced to buy the switch just because I'm moving? It was installed before at my first place with my free installation with no problem. Now I move, get free installation again (with the upgrade) and I have to pay for this one part on the dish. It doesn't make any sense to me. Anyway, if this switch thing is on the old dish, can I just take it off and give it to the installer to use for no charge?

From what I have read about the DTV mover program, if you agree to a year commitment of the Top 150 package and agreed to credit card auto pay, the mover program is totally free. They should provide the exact equipment that was installed at your old house for free.

If you cannot get them to drop the $50 for a new switch, go ahead and take the old switch and get the installer to use that. You can also get the old Dish off the roof and make a little money on ebay.
