No, you won't see more artifacts if you were to get a 36" digital television than with your current 36". Size is much more of an issue, than whether your television is "digital" or not. A 51" or 60" screen will show the artifacts much more so than a 36" one, whether the set is digital ready or not.
If a television is "digital" or "digital ready" all that means is that it is capable of recognizing an ATSC signal (with a separate set top box in the case of "digital ready") and displaying it.
