DISH Network Statement on Canadian Approval of TerreStar License Transfer

ENGLEWOOD, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/07/12 -- DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) issued the following statement today regarding Canadian approval of the TerreStar license transfer request:

"DISH is pleased to announce that Industry Canada has approved the transfer of the Canadian spectrum licenses held by TerreStar to DISH. In granting its approval, Industry Canada reached the conclusion that the transfer would be in the public interest in light of 'the capacity that would be available in Canada,' among other reasons.

U.S. bankruptcy courts approved DISH's acquisition of the spectrum licenses held by TerreStar and DBSD in the middle of 2011.

DISH is prepared to immediately close both transactions upon receiving Federal Communications Commission approval of the transactions and associated waiver requests, which will enable DISH to move forward with its planned wireless initiatives.

DISH believes that immediate Commission approval will be a win for consumers, competition, infrastructure investment, and American jobs."

What spectrum that company held ? Sat position or OTA ?
That's why I posted it here. I was hoping someone would have some more info and be able to tell us what this means. Actually I was kind of expecting someone else would've posted it and there'd be a discussion already. This site does tend to spoil a person!

DISH Network Statement on Bankruptcy Court Approval of TerreStar's Reorganization

ENGLEWOOD, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/15/12 -- DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) issued the following statement today regarding final bankruptcy court approval of TerreStar Networks' reorganization plan:

"DISH Network is pleased to announce that a U.S. bankruptcy court today confirmed TerreStar's reorganization plan to emerge from bankruptcy. The U.S. bankruptcy courts previously authorized TerreStar and DBSD to sell their spectrum licenses to DISH during the middle of 2011.

"DISH is prepared to close both transactions upon receipt of Federal Communications Commission approval of the license transfers and associated waiver requests. With these approvals, DISH would immediately begin the design and construction planning for the nation's first 100 percent LTE network. The requested waivers are necessary, among other things, to remove an outdated requirement for every handset to have the capability to establish a communications link to a satellite. The waiver of this requirement will allow DISH to provide more meaningful competition and greater choice for wireless consumers."

DISH Network Statement

ENGLEWOOD, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/02/12 -- DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH) issued the following statement today regarding its DBSD/TerreStar license transfers.

"Although we are disappointed that the FCC did not grant the integrated service and spare satellite waivers that DISH requested, we appreciate the cooperative spirit and diligent efforts of the Commission and its staff in reviewing our applications. We worked hard to demonstrate that the grant of those waivers was in the public interest, and we wish that we had been successful. We believe that the denial of those waivers will delay the advancement of some of President Obama's and the FCC's highest priorities -- namely freeing up new spectrum for commercial use and introducing new mobile broadband competition. As we review our options, we will continue working with the FCC on the forthcoming 2 GHz Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to achieve those goals as expeditiously as possible. DISH is committed to helping the Administration and the FCC solve the existing spectrum crunch, and DISH believes that new competition is particularly critical given the expanding world of bit caps and restrictive data plans. We expect to close the DBSD and TerreStar transactions as soon as practicable."
