Hi all

Having problems with sat 129 signal level on my single dish 1000.2 recent upgrade/install.

110 and 119 seem fine.

After talking nicely a few times with the techs at dish, a tech. is coming out on thurs. to do either a :

install a separate dish to get 61.5? sat for hd or,

Remove 1000.2 and install 1000.4 for the eastern arc.

I live in the St. paul, MN area.

We have one hdtv and one sdtv using the 722 receiver.

*Looks* like I have a decent line of sight to the the east but that will be determined on thursday when the tech. comes.

Did I leave any important info. out to ask:

What would my best option be?
Pros and cons of each?

This may be a bit abbreviated cause of my (non) typing skills.

I thought the Eastern Arc was for new customer's only, at least what I've read here. If I'm understand right, this is an MPEG-4 only service, so all your receivers must be MPEG-4 capable (the 722 is.)

Anyway, just a comment, I'm not sure which is "best." I'm sure others will chime in.

Your not too far from me... And I get a wonderful signal level on 129. I started out using the first Dish1000, then moved into a Dish1000 Plus for higher gain.

My 61.5 level, on a separate dish, is about the same as my 129.

I do admit, to get a high signal on 129 I had to spend a few hours with a Birdog and tweak the daylights out of the dish.

Well in a nutshell I just need a better signal for my high def.

Dish has been quite responsive and wants to get this settled.

I'm a bit new to this all and am unsure as to which route to go.

Well, IMHO if they are thinking about installing an Eastern Arc for you, then you should consider it. It seems that's the way they are moving in our area.

From what I hear on the net, you would need the new smartcard for that... and I am not sure they are doing that outside of new subs at the moment. Doesn't hurt to weigh options though.

The tech. I talked to yesterday really seemed to know his stuff. A good draw for me. Two days ago I talked to a tech that wasn't even sure if it was day or night.

But anyway I treat them the way I would like to be treated and they respond nicely in most cases.

We will see exactly what my options are on thursday.

My signal on 129 yesterday was nill to 7, 9 and up and down and well, getting me a bit po'd.
