Dish Sales Obscene Phone Call

3518 Views 14 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  scooper
Received an automatic-dial phone solicitation yesterday from an agent selling Dish Network. After the recording, I waited for the human sales pitch. I asked who was calling me, his phone number, and his name, He responded:

Satellite Promotions
"Joey"
refused to give his phone number.

Then he told me: "I'm not a fu*kin retard", and hung up.

Being on the Do Not Call list, I punched in *57 to retrieve the last number calling me. Had intended to file a police report, and report an obscene phone call. Also wanted to call Dish Network to complain, but who can decipher their contact info on their website?

Sorry representative for Dish....

Yes, he is.

It's not a representative for Dish.

Anyone can "resell" Dish Network.

My local newspaper is stuffed with glossy ads for guys who sell Dish and DirecTV - they may never even have seen a satellite dish and don't stock them - they just sell the service as "affiliates".

Dish Network employees always represent themselves as working for Dish.
What? For that?

Come on. He just said ONE THING. One thing.

There's a hunger problem, a poverty problem, and a homeless problem. Prices are going up for everything, and that's not obscene?

It wasn't like he was spewing out a bunch of F's anyway.
Yep, just someone selling Dish, not Dish themselves.

I think Direct just had a problem with a company marketing to people on the Do Not Call list. No more Dish's fault than that was Direct's fault.
You can say they don't represent dish all you want. But they are calling on behalf of the dish network (whether reseller or not) and they most certainly do represent dish

So those emails I've been getting that say "CNN Breaking News" and "MSNBC News Alert" but actually contain viruses are the fault of CNN and MSNBC ??

Your logic is lacking.

Lacking? You might be giving him too much credit!

How about you grow some skin and not bother the Police because someone said a naughty word to you. YOU go find the law that was broken and get back to us.

A single phone call is not harassment and a single swear used as an adjective is not obscene.

Ah, free legal advice. lol
It is free, but not legal advice. It is good advice. The only real problem with today's social world is that people are WAY TOO SENSITIVE! Get over it. Noting irritates me more than a person who calls the police about something that didn't actually hurt them.

That said ...

If the guy worked for for a Mobile gas station, would you call Mobile and complain, or find the owner of the gas station and talk to them first? You do have you choice. If I were you, I would talk to the company he works for and if they didn't give you an answer, then go to Dish. In reality, Dish is way too big to know every employee of every reseller.
If you call "****in retard" obsene - do us both a favor and don't come around to my house. By that standard, my wife and me both "swear like sailors on liberty"....

You need to get over yourself.

If you use obsene (sic) language when strangers come to visit, then your and your wife's "class" will clearly shine.

Inappropriate - the guy trying to make the sales call was certainly that - not a great way to win friends and influence people to buy from him. But not obscene.
