I have a weird one for you. I watched the streaming Dish Scape 2 channel 198 through the Dish Anywhere app from 4 PM to 5 PM Eastern today. As soon as I closed the player and went back to the guide, channel 198 disappeared. Shortly after that, someone else posted on the other forum that channel 198 would not work (presumably through the Hopper) either.

TheKrell said: "I can't even get 198 to come up at all right now."

So my question is: Is anyone else here having difficulties getting channel 198, either through Dish Anywhere or through Wally/Hopper/Joey? Does 198 still show up in the guide for you, or is it completely missing?

Thanks! I should clarify that channel 198 disappeared from the Live Streams section of the Guide in the Dish Anywhere app. I found it under All Channels in Dish Anywhere, but now 198 is listed as a regular satellite channel, not a streaming channel. Is this the way it appears in your Hopper guide, James? (In other words, is 198 with or without the green "Stream" indicator for you?) I tried clicking on channel 198 in the Dish Anywhere guide, and I get a pop-up: "Your receiver is offline. Please reconnect your Hopper to the internet."

The funny thing is that the thread (from the other forum) that I mentioned earlier was started yesterday by someone complaining about not being able to record the Dish Scapes 2 stream. (That is not just a problem with this channel. Hoppers are unable to record any streaming channel.) So, if Dish Scapes 2 was converted to a regular satellite channel (instead of streaming) later that same day, that is either one heck of a coincidence, or Dish Technical Operations moved with lightning speed to resolve that complaint.

Unfortunately, in my case that solution causes another problem. My Hopper 3 is not activated, and my active receiver is not capable of Sling functionality. I am also not home to be able to check my active receiver myself. So, the only channels I can access through Dish Anywhere are the Live Stream channels. If Dish converted Dish Scapes from a streaming channel to a satellite channel, then they just took it away from those of us who rely on those streaming feeds through Dish Anywhere.

Your service has been off for longer than their site has been having problems. You can send a message to DISH through the current site.

Thanks! I clicked on that site's link to contact them, submitted my information, and asked them about reactivating my service. I got a form letter reply, but at least they responded quickly:

"Hi,

We are excited to hear that you want to come back! Because of the system issue, we are unable to process this right now. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We'll be able to help you out as soon as our systems are back up. Our teams are working around the clock to restore affected systems as quickly as possible, and we are making steady progress. Please check mydish.com. It will be updated with the latest information and will be the best place to get updates.

Thank you."

I am not sure exactly when it happened, since I hadn't checked Dish Anywhere yesterday. However, I am happy to report that the streaming Dish Scape channel 198 is back in the guide and working properly today. :)

As of this morning, the streaming Dish Scape 2 channel 198 has disappeared from Dish Anywhere again. This is not quite as bad as it was before, since I can now watch the Dish Scapes directly through my Hopper 3. It is still annoying, though.

Dish Scape 2 channel 198 is working properly again through Dish Anywhere. It seems to be disappearing once per week, usually on the weekend.

Earlier this evening, I lost access to the streaming Dish Scape 2 through my Hopper 3, though. This time, it was not just channel 198 with a problem. All of the streaming channels I checked would only give me a Streaming Error code. I didn't want to reset the Hopper 3 as that message suggested, since it was in the middle of recording PTAT. So, I checked the internet connection in the Settings menu, and it was working okay. Apps such as Local Now and Pandora worked properly. I played music in Pandora for a half-hour, and then went back to check channel 198 again. By that time, it was working again, and so were all of the other streaming channels I had checked.

I hadn't checked Dish Anywhere earlier in the day, so I don't know if that stream reappeared before or after the Hopper streaming problem noted above. Everything is working fine now, though.

Mixed results today. On my Android device that is still logged into Dish Anywhere, channel 198 is still missing from the Live Stream section of the guide. However, on my laptop (where I can finally log in using the Chrome browser) channel 198 is there in the Streaming section, and works properly.

Okay, after not allowing me to login to Dish Anywhere at all the last couple of days, I am finally back into my Dish Anywhere account on my laptop. This time, the streaming channel 198 is also missing from the website's guide.

More mixed results tonight.

On the Dish Anywhere site on my laptop, channel 198 is back in the Streaming section. However, when I click on it, there is no option to "Watch" it. The only options are "Record", "Recording Options", and "Program Info." Clicking on the "Program Info" results in "Sorry, we couldn't find that page."

On my one Android device that stayed logged into Dish Anywhere (I still can't login on my other Android device) streaming channel 198 is still completely missing.

Also, the guide on my Hopper 3 had no program info for channel 198 earlier this evening, but the guide info returned before I was done watching TV in the living room. Apparently, the missing guide info has something to do with this channel disappearing from Dish Anywhere. Again though, the results are very inconsistent, depending on the device.

And finally, a possible explanation for the disappearing Dish Scape 2:

Today, streaming channel 198 has reappeared in the guide in my Dish Anywhere app. However, the guide info says "DSCP2 - Connect to view." Selecting the channel brings up the pop-up:
"We apologize for the inconvenience. DISH Anywhere no longer supports your Sling adapter (HEVC211). To continue enjoying DISH Anywhere, call 800-333-DISH and upgrade to a Hopper with Sling."

(Keep in mind that I already have a Hopper 3. "HEVC211" is Dish's internal terminology for a Wally, which I no longer have.)

Doesn't this requirement defeat the entire purpose of the Live Streaming channels through the Dish Anywhere guide? If it is now necessary to connect your receiver to the internet to view this channel through Dish Anywhere, then how is it different from any other satellite-delivered channel that requires an internet-connected Sling-capable receiver to view?

As of this evening, all of the extra streaming channels that I had been receiving through the Dish Anywhere app have disappeared. Channel 198 is now completely missing. I am back to only the free preview channels. So, it appears that Dish is getting things back to "normal." Now, if only they could get the mydish site functional again, and add the streaming Showtime free preview channels to Dish Anywhere. (All I currently have is Sundance, Discovery en Espanol, and TV Land.)
