My local CW doesn't broadcast a signal, it's available through Buckeye Cable and Time Warner Cable only. DirecTV compensated this by giving us the Washington DC CW for free. Dish says I'm eligible for all of the superstations, does that mean it's $2 for all or $2 each. Would I still have to pay for one if they don't offer my local one?

They don't offer my local MyNetwork which DOES broadcast a signal so I would assume I should get one of those as well. I can get the Detroit CW with an antenna but they aren't going to give me an out of market station unfortunately... even though TWC does.

They also give us Fox Sports Cincinnati even though Detroit is closer, it must just be because I live in Ohio.

I also have 2 quick questions that are unrelated to the above post:
1) Do I have to pay for a Sling adapter?
2) Is there a hide SD duplicates like there is with DirecTV?

It is $2 each for superstations, be advised KTLA is in Pacific timezone, KWGN is in Mountain and the other three are eastern. KTLA, KWGN and WPIX are all CW, WWOR is My Network and WSBK is independent. All are sd only, not available in HD (although many were getting WWOR in HD while Dish says they are not supposed to).

1. Sling adapter is $50, you cannot get it free.
2. Yes, you can either hide sd or you lock your system, locking out and hiding other channels you may not want to see.

Superstations are $2 each or all 5 for $7. They will not give you them for free as far as I know.

As to Q 1 - Yes.

As to Q 2 - Yes, set guide to all HD.
Bummer...

In response to question number 2, that doesn't exclude the SD only channels does it? I would assume it doesn't.

Using the HD Only guide will hide all sd, you can choose HD only in the setup and it will hide sd when HD is available or as I said in my previous post, using locks you can hide any channels you want, sd or HD.

Most (if not all) HD receivers now have HD preferred listings ... where if there is a HD channel it will be shown, if not the SD channel will be shown. The exception being the part-time HD channels which would show both HD and SD in the guide.

The HD Only guide is HD only ... All Channels is all HD and SD (regardless of the menu setting).

If you don't have a local CW OTA dish gives you WPIX in the east or KTLA in the west.

I thought there was something like that. I have a friend with Dish and I noticed they had WPIX and thought there's no way they're paying for this. Guess I was right.

I'm looking to get 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys, can I assign one Joey to one hopper and one Joey to the another? Can I access one Hoppers recorded programs from another?

Do you have an example of that somewhere? A friend in Angola Ohio does not get CW locally and is paying for a CW superstation to get it. I would like to help him get it for free if Dish is doing it. (I looked on the Dish site, they don't list any CW as being in his package)

The CW station does not have to be in the package ... it just has to be in the market. In the Fort Wayne Indiana Market the CW is on 21.2 (not carried by DISH but still possessing the rights to the programs in their market). They would have to give permission for DISH (or DirecTV) to carry a different CW in that market.

Yes, DISH gives me WPIX on channel 251 because my DMA does not have an OTA CW.

I love the HD preferred listings!

Did you have to ask them or was it automatic? I just want to have my ducks in a row when I help him call Dish. He does not have a CW station in his DMA. Thanks.

I'm curious too. With DirecTV is just showed up one day, I can't assume it's the same for Dish though.
