I am interested in switching from cable TV to DISH. My new home has a junction box on the outside wall which connects the incoming cable thru the walls to a master cable/telrphone distribution box located in a large interior closet. From there cables are run to individual room wall plates.
Can a DISH installation make use of all the existing RG6 cable runs? We would like two rooms with SD service & another room with HD service. A DISH CSR has said that their installer can combine their signal with the cable co's internet signal at the outside junction box.

I'd be interested if someone can confirm this as I am wary of answers received from various DISH CSR's.

Also I am confused as to what DISH's"no commitment" means since some CSR's say I'd still have to continue paying fees for 18 months if I wish to suspend or drop service prior to the end of the period!

"No commitment" means you are NOT obligated to continue the lease for 18 months. If you don't commit to 18 months, you don't get the $49.99 activation fee refunded to your account, 18 months of DHPP (insurance), but can cancel at any time and return the equipment to DISH.

*$49.99 credit on the first bill requires an 18-month commitment to Digital Home Advantage. If qualifying service is terminated prior to end of 18 months, a cancellation fee equal to the lesser of $240 or $13.33 per month for each cancelled month of service will apply.
Fine print Terms & Conditions - http://www.dishtv.com/terms_dha04.jsp
read the section with Term Agreement Option and Cancellation Fee.

(If the eighteen month agreement option is not electronically accepted, you will be deemed to have declined a term agreement.)
Read the Money Back Guarantee. section that covers the 30 day "nevermind" period - if you agreed to the 18 month commit.

You'd still need to return equipment and you wouldn't get the $199 back if you chose to upgrade to a ViP 622 and quit.

Lastly, commitment or not, you can't subscribe to less than DishFAMILY or you have to send the equipment back. That also rules out "seasonal disconnect" and the like. That requirement remains forever, not just 18 months AFAIK. Being able to "stop" service for 30 days is probably the only remaining advantage to owning receivers.

Thanks for the replies to my questions.
I received an e-mail reply from a DISH CSR in reference to the possibility of suspending (ie placing my account on hold) service in the future if I am out of the country. The reply stated that it would only be possible after I complete the 18 month programming service agreement.
Where does the "18 month programming service agreement" come from? Is this imposed even if I select "no commitment" in their website service request procedure?
The fine print is mind boggling!
