Display MPEG2 MPEG 4

hello all.not dumb question.can there be a firmware update on the hr recievers to gives us a display if the channel were viewing is in 1080i or 720p _ MPEG2 or MPEG4 ?

next question if 1080p does come are hr recievers are only up to 1080i:grin:

If you set your IRD to native the light on the front will show you what res it is. Nada on the MPEG tho

I'm pretty sure the 1080p will be VOD contents over internet.

It wont matter after tomorrow, Directv is using MPEG4 for all HD content, you will however still be able to view MPEG2 HD in its glory in the 70's and 80's for a little while.

If you are just wanting a way to know the mpeg4 conversion has happened, check for channel 306. That is where the mpeg4 version of HD Net (79) will be.
