Distance from Dish to SWM < 40'?

Hello All,

I just purchased an SWM-8. On the Intall Quick Reference Guide it notes that the lines from the KaKu dish are to be <40 ft.

Is this true, I was unaware that there was a distance requirement from the dish to the SWM?

Any help is aprreciated..

I am not sure what the max is but it can be longer than 40'. A few people including myself are using cables from dish to SWM about 75' long.

There is of course nothing stopping you from doing what the folks I consult to do with EVERY home install, putting a WB616 between the dish and the SWM; the lengths between the dish and the WB616 are, in some cases, exceeding 200' of solid copper core quad-shielded (only thing they use) RG6. Although there's a couple out there with RG11...

Seems like over kill, unless more outputs are needed, since a Sonora locker could work if there was a problem.
The SWM *is* a signal locker...

Yes, but over very long runs, "might" need some help.
i have a sonora locker in line with my 4 way split sat cables that go to 2- swm8's and 2 - wb68's
I have been using swm at a distance of 125+ ft flawlessly! As 1948gg correctly states lines longer than 200 ft should include a sonora locker.
