As far as I can tell, D* still has yet to officially acknowledge the demand for DLB. We can assume they are going to listen, but we don't know anything officially.

For all we know, D* has absolutely no plans whatsoever to implement DLB.

At least they have via Earl acknowledged the demand. But more to your point, they ain't yet announced that it will come....

Don't look for it any time soon. They'd have to substantially reprogram the tuner behavior to implement DLB. Then again, I keep hearing whispers that something resembling DLB is waiting to be implemented as soon as a specific feature of the HR20 is enabled. I have no idea what it is, but I hear it often enough that there's still some hope.

If I had to hazard a guess based on past experience, I'd say that dual buffers, if they are ever implemented in another D* DVR, will have to wait for another product, like the Home Media Center. I agree with previous threads that suggest that there's nothing the hardware to stop it, but I've never thought DLB was a priority for them. It came for free with the Tivo units, that's all.

I'm glad that people in this forum (and the R15 forum) have come up with such good workarounds, though.

I will not stay with this unit once i hear it will not enable DLBs. I will be very patient though i do believe they will hear us as long as we continue to be the squeaky wheel.

I'd like to see a poll of who really wants dual buffers and who could care less. It doesn't make a crap's worth of difference to me whether it appears in the HR20 or not, and I previously had 2 DirecTV with TIVO DVR's.
