I am using a old URC8811 universal remote and a Chanel Vision remote repeater to control my system (HR21-700 and HR24-500 plus other stuff). The DirecTV DVRs all use single band 38kHz IR signal .
I have a ChannelVision controlling my other system in the living room. It works great for all IR components. In my video room I use RF to IR emote controllers and it works well. I have been using built-in RF on both D* DVRs and have had some wall interference that has motivated me buying this Monoprice IR repeater system. I'm hoping the IR to the DVRs will improve their responsiveness. My problem could actually be the slow processing of the DVRs.zhezhang said:I am using a old URC8811 universal remote, and a Chanel Vision remote repeater to control my system (HR21-700 and HR24-500 plus other stuff). Just a heads up. I have purchased and returned the repeater from monoprice. Had one and returned it and they sent a replacement with the same issue. It has 4- 1/8 plugs with dual emitters on each. After plugging in more than 2 plugs or 4 total emitters it did not have enough power to work. 2 or less worked ok but not great. Spoke to them on the phone while troubleshooting and they were going to try a higher voltage transformer but I am not sure if it worked or not.jborchel said:I'm about to buy an infra red (IR) repeater system from Monoprice but their device doesn't support dual band IR electronic devices. For instance, many users say it won't work with their Denon receiver because apparently all of Denon's stuff is dual band IR. Does anyone know whether the Direct TV receivers are dual band or single band IR. The user manual doesn't say and tech support couldn't/wouldn't answer the question.
You just hit the nail on the head.jborchel said:...My problem could actually be the slow processing of the DVRs.
