Wow! This has to be one of the Top 5 "new" Doctor Who episodes that I've seen!

This was such an intense episode, very dark, very constrained and confined yet so unpredictable, and told essentially in real-time.

I could never have imagined The Doctor being unable to convince others why he's important, resorting finally to "because I'm clever".

Just a great episode ... with a Rose sighting to boot. (Can't wait for next week's episode!)

Most....annoying....episode.....ever!

I could barely listen, actually hit the mute button a few times.

<sorry>

Anyway, the season ending two parter is a Doctor Who geek delight. Midnight was excellent in its moodiness and its Twilight Zone feel and the season ender is more high style Doctor Who mixing the new and old styles.

As soon as the episode was over, I turned to the wife and mentioned how the episode was quite dark for Dr. Who. It was good though. I did like the "I'm clever" line as it finally showed his frustration. I also thought it was interesting that he refused to tell them his name even when that most likely would have diffused the tension between The Doctor and the rest of the passengers.

I am also excited for the next episode as Rose is definitely my favorite companion (although I did eventually take to Martha).

I was so glad no Donna. She is my least favorite companion including all the earlier series. She is just mean and [email protected]

No explanation in the end of what the "thing" was? Hmmmm. Wonder if Rose has something to do with it?
That thing was a new life form. The Doctor did explain what it was when he was trying to get through to it.

Donna "mean and *****y?" Yeah, I guess I missed that when she was crying over the Ood. Or was pained over the people dying in Pompeii. Mean and *****y doesn't give a damn about others. She is the most empathic of the Doctor's companions. The character is still developing and continues to develop through the end of the season. I think you are still stuck on your first impression from her first appearance.

While I would say that Donna is my least favorite of the Doctor's last three companions, I would also say that she seems to be the most intimate with the Doctor, touching on very personal subjects with the Doctor that just were not as prevalent with the prior two companions. There is an affinity between Donna and the Doctor that allows him to more freely discuss his feelings, his family, and his pains with her, and that speaks volumes about Donna.

Never before have I wanted to be a forum admin so much.

Because then I'd post a message consisting of...

:groan: Color me slow, but it took me four days to get this! :p

...and mess with the time stamp so it would show up before Drew's post. :D
