At least once a day, ever since 0xE3 (and still today with 0xFA), at least once every 48 hours, my HR20 turns into a pumpkin. Or rather, a plain old receiver with taunts of being a DVR. No trickplay, no buffer, no recordings, no playback. Tunes in channels great, but nothing else. A reset fixes it, until it breaks again, lather, rinse, repeat.

I haven't actually done the whole reformat and start from scratch thing since it all went south, as I like keeping recordings around for ages so everyone in the family can watch, but with so few recordings actually even making it and having to reset the thing every time I want to try and watch something (that may or may not be in the recorded list after the reset anyway), I'm about ready to throw it out the window, or at least do the full system reset/reformat.

So, to anyone who's been down this path: Does it do any good, or will I have the same problems only without all my old recorded shows?

HR10? not sure on that.. never seen that one. Now if your MEANT the HR20.. YES... do the total format... it solved everything for us.. I have not had any major issues in a long long time.

Reformatting has not made a lick of difference for me. I was actually able to record programs before my first reformat, but I ended up with lots of partial recordings. Since my first reformat, I've hardly been able to watch any recording. Looks like the "unwatchable bug" for me. I'm not saying my problems are due to reformatting - unplayable or partial, both are useless to me. I’m just saying it didn't seem to improve anything. Keep in mind, that I've had a few s/w updates that most likely play into my situation as well.

Good luck!
