I'm moving. I was offered the HR-34 in a mover's deal. They said I couldn't get it because I don't have an internet connection. Is this true? I don't care about PPV or on demand programming. However, I would like to utilize the 5 tuners.

No, you do NOT need the internet for an HR34. The HR34 will work fine as long as you have an SWM system, which they will install for you under "movers connection". Getting "whole home" installed will help you make the most of your HR34, but that does not need an internet connection either.
If you still have a problem getting the CSRs to understand this, just tell them you do have internet and then sort it out with the installer....
