Okay like most people I had to reboot my DVR this morning. It came back up and started recording GMA, the sound was fine). Came home and it was locked up again, like many other people. I rebooted it and it came up again. It recorded Jeopardy in Dolby and the sound was just an annoying hum. It auto rebooted itself and the sound is gone or a loud humm on all Dolby Digital channels. I went through the direct tv setup and turned the dolby off and it works again.

The DVR is hooked up via HDMI cable to my Harman Kardon AVR 254. I remember seeing this problem some a couple months back when doing my research before getting this DVR. I have had it hooked up this way for the past three months and have had 0 issues. Did all this latest crap with the rebooting roll me back to some firmware version where this bug existed?

I have a very similar problem that started after DirecTV's botched upgrade on 10/6/08. I used to see Dolby Digital (DD) in the display of my Denon 5380ci receiver. I also have my HR21 connected via HDMI. No matter the channel (HD or SD with DD or not) I would still see icons illuminated for all of my speakers (R, L, C, SR, SL, SUB), but now I only see icons for the front R and L speakers.

I have Dolby Digital switched ON for my HR21, but my receiver only shows [PCM][DIG] instead of the DD icon with [DIG]. PCM shouldn't be displayed or coming from the HR21.

Does anyone else have this problem with their HR21 "stuck" sending out PCM instead of Dolby Digital (DD)?

Same issue, no Dolby Digital via HDMI or Optical on my HR20-100. When I turn it off, in the setup, two channel audio works.
