The double play on the HR24 and the HR34 are different. On the HR34 it acts correctly and a started program can immediately be paused, tuner changed, another program tuned and instantly paused. Then we can watch a recording as the buffers build in the two desired programs "live".
On the HR24 it takes at least ten seconds to pause and only after using the play button. Then use the other tuner and the same behavior, tune, wait wait wait wait then hit play then finally pause.
I was told that it was due to the need to build up a slight buffer. It needs a couple of seconds of recording to get the stream in to the buffer to the point where you can pause. I don't have an HR34, so I don't know what the difference could be.
