When I got my 501 hooked up the tech hit some buttons to download the program guide. Though on my 2 other 301's he didn't do that so there is no extended program guide and the little viewscreen when "surfing" the guide takes a minute to show a picture. Anyone know the option to dl the guide or does it just work on the 501?

The 501 is the only dish receiver that has the extended 9 day guide - it is stored on the hard disk, so when you enter the guide, it comes up with the video window almost instantaneously. This is not the case with the 301 - it has a couple of hours of guide data stored in its memory, but it must go to the satellite for the rest of it - hence the delay in showing the video.
