D* does have it's competition building from the phone companies. Local phone companies are now running fiber to the home. In new construction the fiber is making it all the way inside.

D* will not be able to beat the speeds that this media type will offer. It will be limited to who gets it since currently it is in new homes only today.

Will they be able to team up with the companies doing this?
Not likely. These companies are interested in the same offer to the customer. A complete bundle solution.

I'm sure you have heard of ATT homezone. It will not stop there. It will be a complete solution in Texas where last September the State house allowed the phone companies the same rights to deliver TV as the cable companies can deliver phone.

It will be interesting to see what D* will try to do. Currently they have the hughs net over the dish. When you start looking at real time with this solution and you are on ebay trying to out bid someone, you may loose your item.

Add to that the new broadband franchises outside of the standard cable and telco companies. Dish seems to be catching up at an alarming rate too.

In regards to this forum, how many discussions are regarding non-Digital TV? Over in AVSForum that's a different story.

In my opinion, using D* is just being lazy. Use DirecTV.
