I had the Dish 622 HD system installed in April. At the time, my system had the 622 as a primary receiver and an older 508 DVR as a second bedroom receiver. The new dish install used the existing dish for 119/110 and a new, second dish for 129.

I have recently purchased a second 622 DVR to replace the 508.

The second 622 was installed in place of the 508, but I occasionally get a "switch error." I have seen this on both receivers now and have discovered it appears to be happening only when watching HD channels. After a receiver reset, everything begins to work again.

I never had a problem when using the 622/508 combination.

The install includes two lines direct from the dish, through a grounding block, and into the receivers. All coax checks as fine and the connections are good.

Do I need any upgrades to the dish to utilize 2 HD receivers? From what I was told, the second 622 should have been a drop in replacement.

Do you have two lines going to each 622? Or do you have one line and a separator?

If using a separator, do you know if you have Dish Plus LNBs? Back when I got my upgrade, all my LNBs were replaced... and I was told I could run two 622s with separators from that.. but I have not tried such a thing since I only have one 622 to go with my 501 receiver.

Could be that it actually doesn't support 2 622s using separator... but we probably need to know more about your configuration to help better.

if you have a 44 switch then you might have a bad switch if you have a 34 switch then you have bigger prob. if you can take the line that goes to the new622 and put it on a diff output of the switch if that doent work then you need to call dish and have then put in a new switch

I have one line to each 622 into a separator. The new lnb is the DishPro Plus. Beginning to think the lnb may have a problem.

If you have a DishPro Plus Twin. you can run one coax to a 622, using a Separator. The Separator has two output coax leads for Tuner 1 and Tuner 2. You can run the second coax from the DPP Twin to another 622, again using a Separator. I did it a few months back while testing an old and a replacement 622. In this way, you need no external switches. The third F connector on the DPP Twin is an Input for the coax from the 129 LNB.

There have been many reports of failures of DPP Twin LNBs. Try swapping the cables that come from the two outputs of the DPP Twin and connect to your 622s (with a Separator) . That is, use the single cable with Separator from one side of the DPP Twin to connect to one 622.

Then, use the other coax from the DPP Twin and Separator on the same 622. Do the same swap of coaxes (Separators) on the other 622. Do a Switch Check each time you connect a different coax. By then, you should know if both sides of your DPP Twin are okay (or not) and whether both 622s are working normally.

I have heard of Separators going bad, so you could make sure that one coax with a Separator is working okay on one of the 622s. Then on the 622 input you know is working, swap out for the other Separator, to make sure it is okay, before you being the swapping of incoming coaxes between the two 622s. Are you following this? I am having trouble, but I am near senility.

In the 10 days I did the A/B comparison of the two 622s, I never saw a difference in using two coaxes from the DPP Twin to Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 inputs on a 622 or using one coax and a Separator.

I swapped the lines and the problem moved to the other receiver, so it appears the lnb is bad on one side.

Dish is sending a replacement under warranty, so hopefully will be back up and running in a few days.
