Maybe a late fee, but they don't turn it off that fast. I missed a payment a few months ago (due to my autopayment getting screwed up when I moved) and there was a late fee, but the signal stayed on.

I would call them and they will note the circumstances on your account. That's not necessary to keep the service turned on, but they just might be nice and waive the late fee.

If you log into your account on-line, there is a place in the "pay your bill" section where you can ask for a day or two extension. I had one CSR tell me that by doing that the payment is considered late (even though you get an "extension has been approved" type message). I've had several other CSRs tell me that's poppycock. I had to do this a couple of times as I get paid every two weeks instead of twice a month, and my due date for a couple of months was a day or two before payday.

Also, in the case of payday being one day after due date, I have also gone in on the due date and paid using my bank account. It applies the payment, but doesn't immediately hit the bank account so when my direct deposit goes in the next day, it's all cool.

By the way, no late fees charged to my account in any of the above scenarios.
