DVR 625 random switch channel problem

1016 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Rob Glasser
Since there is no dedicated 625 forum, I will post here and hope somebody will be able to help.

My 625 DVR randomly changes channels when nobody touches the remotes. I can see numbers appear on the screen, like "0, 7, 5" and then the receiver would switch to channel 75. This is happening so often that I have to turn off TV sometimes.

So far this only happens on the second TV.

Anybody knows what might be the issue? Could it be the receiver receive the signal from other devices? If so, how can I fix that?

Thanks in advance.

General Dish Network would be an appropriate Forum since it can happen to all UHF receivers. Any neighbor can control your TV2 if their remote is set to the same address as yours. Your remote may also be controlling their receiver. Get the receiver to the System Info screen (try to NOT use your TV2 remote to avoid getting the neighbor's receiver to the Info screen as well). It will likely show 2 for the TV2 remote address on that screen. Push and hold the Sat button on the TV2 remote until the other lights blink, pick a new Remote address such as 6, 12, ... and then push # and then Record button. The TV2 address should change to whatever address you picked and the neighbor shouldn't effect your receiver any longer.
I moved this thread to the Standard Definition DVR forum.

As for the issue your seeing, it sounds like a neighbor has a Dish receiver with a UHF remote set to the same address as yours. Try changing your remote address, instructions on exactly how to do this are in the manual for the receiver. I'd tell them to you but I can't remember the exact sequence off the top of my head.
