It had a $5.99 DVR fee for this month and a retro active fee back to August for DVR service. I have not yet received my bill for this month to see if I have the same charge.
Is the DVR service no longer included in the Premier package?
If I log in and look at the packages and FAQ it says that it is. But if I go to the directv website without logging in the Premier package says "FREE DVR service for 4 months (reg. $5.99/mo.) with activation of a DVR-capable receiver"
July 12th, 2007 is when the DVR services was removed from the Premier package unless you had it before then.RunnerFL said:DVR hasn't been included in the Premier package for over a year, or maybe just about a year, but if you had it before the change you are grandfathered in.
Agreed, I dont see how $6/mo makes you want to go to FiOS personally....vfr781rider said:IMO, you'd be nuts to go to FIOS because of $6 a month.
Us Dish customers have to pay $5.99 in all but one package. Ain't nickle & diming wonderful?JerseyBoy said:A friend of mine who has the Premier package just receive his monthly bill from directv. I doubt that. Alot of people would not pay that for each DVR. That would probably lose them more money then gain.Game Fan said:Before long we will pay $5.99 per DVR instead of one fee per account. It's only a matter of time.
Its far from being wronged IMO. Companies change pricing all the time. Packages change, prices go up, things are moved around, etc. It's a fact of life.blarnson said:It's a matter of principle, not the $6 a month. If I'm "wronged" by a company, I'll walk.
I just don't understand how DirectTV can now charge me for something that has always been included in my package and state is no way to rectify the situation.
Yeah. You don't want to mvoe over something like that. All companies suffer lapses in customer service. If you want to go Fios do it over product quality.Grentz said:Its far from being wronged IMO. Just like how cell phone companies change packages, etc.
I agree too, BUT, there is the principle of the matter, AND, if you are in an area with all the new HD channels that Fios has added, it may be a better choice than Directv,,,,from what I hear it has a better PQ anyway.Grentz said:Agreed, I dont see how $6/mo makes you want to go to FiOS personally....
I have recently been looking at this myself again. The DVR HD Plus package for $73 claims to include HD access and DVR service. Is this true?Michael D'Angelo;1820972 said:July 12th, 2007 is when the DVR services was removed from the Premier package unless you had it before then.
That is correct.gcisko said:I have recently been looking at this myself again. The DVR HD Plus package for $73 claims to include HD access and DVR service. Is this true?
I would expect the $105 premium package to also include DVR service and HD access if a lower package does. So if I understand what you are saying, if I want the premium package for my HR20, I have to pay $105 + $6 + 10 = $121 per month???
Premium + HD+DVR at 121 provides a couple dollars savings over PLUS HD DVR and the 5 premiums added one at a time.gcisko said:I have recently been looking at this myself again. The DVR HD Plus package for $73 claims to include HD access and DVR service. Is this true?

I was in the same boat 5 weeks ago and was told by 2 supervisors that the grandfathering had been discontinued and would only offer me 12 months of DVR credits. But I talked with another rep in retention who emailed the "backoffice" and they took care of it after a few days and reinstated the "DVR at no cost with base package" to my account.BHYDE-1 said:My bill had the same thing. I called and the rep said they couldn't reinstate the grandfathering - once gone, she said, it is gone and can't be restored, and she couldn't explain why it happened. But she said she set my account for no charge for a year, with a detailed note so that next year that would be done again.
