DVR Options?

This may be wrong section but I need to know what my options are for WHDVR (SWM16) with the following DVR's and receivers.

Currently Slimline Dish (HR20) (HR21) (HR24) would like to add a HR34 to this mix??

Current SD DVR's on old dish. (HR22 but would switch to H25) (Old Phillips DVR would also switch to H25)

What DVR's would the H25's control etc??

The H25 would be able to watch/delete any show recorded on any DVR, as well as set something to record, but can't truy manage them. As long as you had a swm16, itll all work, you would want to make sure to order MRV and the 34 at the same time to get SWM, otherwise they'd install the 8 tuner version then need to swap it out to add the 34.

On the old dish, it's a hr22? Or is it an R22?

Typo.....Yeah R22.

Would the 3 DVR's also have the same capability?
The R22 is HD capable, you could keep it too if you wanted and use it as part of the MRV set up.

I just figured that out in my readings, but I don't know how that would work out in SD vs HD?? Would the HD receivers see the playlist of the SD receiver and visa versa?

Since you have HD, the R22 should be acting like a true HD-DVR. Once HD is turned on for an account that has a R22, the R22 turns into a HD-DVR.

As for your question about viewing, no SD-DVR is MRV compatible, so you cannot share recordings from a SD-DVR and SD receivers cannot view recordings from HD-DVRs.

The HR20 and HR21 have 320GB drives, while the HR24 has a 500GB drive. The R22 has a 320GB drive.

Ok thanks......last question: would any of the receivers still allow mirroring to another tv?
Not sure what you mean by mirroring to another TV. Although, all the outputs of the DVR can be used at the same time. For instance, you could have one TV running off the HDMI output in one room. And a TV in another room running off the composite output. I have 4 TV's running off my HR34 and HR22 with WHDVR setup.
Except for the new HDCP on the premium content channels, like HBO...see other threads already going over this.
True, but I didn't want to complicate the original post. I hadn't thought about mentioning the HDCP issue. I did think about the issue with connecting the composite output of an HD DVR to an SD TV. Then you lose the menu and guide, unless you add a component to composite adapter.

None of the current crop of DIRECTV HD DVRs (oddly including the R22) have an RF modulator built in.

By supplying your own modulator, you'll be able to "mirror" anything in SD up to the point that DIRECTV closes the "analog hole" on protected content. Using a line level distribution amplifier is a much more expensive solution that probably won't improve the signal appreciably.

Be sure you read some or all of the threads regarding SD TVs and the HD GUI.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough but yes, I want to use component output to another tv via a modulator.
