So in the email it states the requested change to your DIRECTV service has been made. What change in service? I asked about a charge. I logged in and low and behold, they gave me a $5.19 adj. credit for a $5.99 DIRECTV DVR Service charge????
Anyway, I've emailed them back about the credit disparity and requested a credit for the entire time I've been double billed. Hoping to apply it to NFLST.
Just an FYI to check your bill!
He should not be billed for DVR service with the Plus HD DVR package...rahlquist said:Hmmm actually it sounds right?

Good catch AirRocker still getting used to them bundled accounts.AirRocker said:He should not be billed for DVR service with the Plus HD DVR package...
It would seem that you weren't given a "credit" but more that your service charge was reversed, the distinction being that service charges are pro-rated. Since they can only credit in $5 increments, your follow-up complaint may result in an actual credit that surpasses the original incorrect charge...keithtd said:So in the email it states the requested change to your DIRECTV service has been made. typical, lol. I had 5 tvs at one time, then got rid of one, and they took it off my account. About 9 months later I noticed I had an additional receiver charge on my account. Turns out about 3 months earlier they had started charging me again for 5 tvs, just out of blue. I have a battle with the CSR on that one, but finally got it adjusted off.keithtd said:Scrutinizing my bill I noticed a $5.99 DVR Service charge along with my Plus HD DVR charge. It seems as they have removed the $5.99 DVR service, resulting in a $5.19 credit. You should check your account online to see if that's the case. Also check and see how many months you have been double-billed and call them to get that credit.keithtd said:So in the email it states the requested change to your DIRECTV service has been made. That is entirely true. However, call them no email, and politely explain to them that youre upset, that you had been overcharged for x months for the feature you were already paying for. They should be able to credit you appropriately(or give you a service discount) if it was their mistake and if youre a customer in good standing.keithtd said:We are unable to apply credit retroactively for a duration of more than 60 days.
I have to say I agree with DirecTV on this one. They are giving you credits for two months worth of mistakes and throwing in another $30 worth of credits. That's good, and I don't think you had any problem with the resolution, just his tone. There, I think he was rather straightforward with you (not pretentious) about the purpose of a statement. Sure, mistakes happen, which is the point of a statement. If this were a bank account reconciliation error you only get 30 days.keithtd said:Anywho, I appreciate the credits which is all I wanted but I think that statement was alittle pretentious. I went 3 rounds with them last year over the same thing regarding HD Service charge but at least this time I did not lose any service!
I would like to recommend a better menu and explanation of services and programming on their website and maybe an annual review with explanations of what each service/programming charge on a bill is.
Nope, you're paying what you should.mx6bfast said:I have Total Choice Plus (54.99) with HD Access (9.99) and DVR Service (5.99). Are ya'll saying I should not be getting charged the DVR Service? Or was the OP getting charged twice for DVR?
Yup. I'm grandfathered into to TC Plus, and I'm holding onto it as long as I can compared to the current Plus HD DVR package. I actually get a small number of channels the Plus HD DVR plan doesn't, and for a couple bucks less.dmurphy said:Nope, you're paying what you should.
His package is "Plus HD DVR" which is a 'bundled' package that includes the HD & DVR services in the package price. Because it's a 'bundle', he's not supposed to see line items for DVR or HD service.
Be happy with your package - $54.99 + $9.99 + $5.99 = $70.97/month
Plus HD DVR = $72.99/month
He's paying $2.02 more per month for basically the same thing :-(
Do you know what those channels are?ziggy29 said:Yup. I'm grandfathered into to TC Plus, and I'm holding onto it as long as I can compared to the current Plus HD DVR package. I actually get a small number of channels the Plus HD DVR plan doesn't, and for a couple bucks less.
Until recently I was getting the NBA TV on 601, but they appear to have pulled that. I still appear to be getting CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV) on 613. There may be a few other ones outside what is now the Sports Pack. I seem to remember a couple in the 300s that I rarely paid attention to.dmurphy said:Do you know what those channels are?
I lost my TC Plus in the Great Epic DVR Lifetime Fee Battle of '07. Got moved to Choice Xtra, but managed to get my DVR Lifetime back.
Decided I just didn't have the fight in me to get back to TC Plus. Figured I'd let that go, get on a 'modern' package and leave it at that.... It took months to get resolved; wasn't going to go through that AGAIN.
Who died and made you king? I was hoping intellect would prevail but I was wrong. Thanks tcusta00 for explaining life. Wow, where have you been the last 10 months as my investments have gone south..geez! I'm glad I subscribe to this site for your rants, which are many! I have never read a more lame "lay down and rollover " statement in my 51 years. Don't dictate your BS to me unless you plan to pay my bill.tcusta00 said:I have to say I agree with DirecTV on this one. I think the point here is that people take for granted that computers and the drones behind them are running things properly. People also take for granted checks and credit cards as a means to pay bills. If you had to pay everything in cash you would most certainly be scrutinizing your statement every month as you lay down all those dead presidents. Our culture has become "pay now ask questions later" and we end up with situations like this. How many people check their grocery bill at the checkout line or stare at the computer screen as the cashier rings your items to make sure it's correct? Nah, too many items to check. Okay, how about at the restaurant? Surely everyone checks their bill when the waiter brings it, right? Okay, maybe not, but I find errors on restaurant tabs all the time - but I sure as heck point them out and get them corrected before I hand over payment.
Should errors happen? No! Do they? Yes! Too bad, it's the way of the world. Lock your doors, tie your shoes, look both ways before you cross the street, and check your billing statements.![]()

A perception I don't agree with, but to your first response, it matters because there's something to be said for forthrightness and full disclosure. You were looking for intellectual discourse, but you won't share how many months you were over-billed? Could the reason be that those same months you were over-billed were also the months where you didn't check your bill, and it could be a bit embarrassing to admit how many months went by? Readers will come to their own conclusions ...keithtd said:What does it matter.....non regulars will always be chastised here!
