I am planning of updating my HR23-700 DVR. Is there a way that I can save or transfer all the info that is saved on the machine?

Unfortunately not. If you have it setup with an external drive, your series links would carry over, but not recordings. If you just have the internal drive, I recommend taking pictures of your series manager.

Also, how are you planning on upgrading the HR23? Just want to make sure your guaranteed to get something that's actually better.

Since I can't save the stuff I guess I will just forgo the upgrade and keep the HR23-700 that really is OK

What kind of upgrade are you referring to?

You have to be careful accepting an upgrade from DirecTV, if it's just for an HD DVR. You might not get a HR24, could be another 23, or lower. That system is broken.

I generally have no issue with the system, except when it comes to someone getting an offer to upgrade an HD DVR with an HD DVR. That's where I have an issue.
