It was storming here earlier and there was a VERY close lightning strike, then the power went out for about a hour. I think the lightning struck my neighbors swimming pool. Well anyways when the power came back I turned on the satellite and it was on one of my locals. I then tried to go to 140(ESPN) because I remembered the US was playing germany and wanted to find out the score. Well I got the "satellite signal has been lost". So I did a check switch and the only thing I am getting is odd tp's on 119. I have a SW64 and a dish500 and one at 61.5. I called Dish tech support and the lady told me to unlug the power convertor from the wall, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Well I can't do that for a while because I am confined to a wheelchair. So then she had me check some TP's on 119, 110 and 61.5. The only thing that comes up are all on 119 on odd tp's. 110 and 61.5 are dead 0. When running a check switch it doesnt detect anything. She them setup a appointment for Monday but she said to have someone try the reset on the SW64. Could I get lucky and that will fix it or do you guys think its toast?

Thanks Scott, I am a little more at ease. I was going to add the $1.99 extended warranty thing yesterday but didn't, today I did when I was talking to tech support!! :)

No problem. :) Just be aware on the 1.99 extended warranty, I dont think that it takes effect for 30 day untill after you purchased it. I think I remember reading that when I signed up for mine.

Its still very good protection to have.

yeah everything i have was/is out of warranty except my new 301 and the LNB on the 61.5 dish. I figure with all this equip I might as well just pay 1.99 and cover it all!

SParker I have all my satellite receivers plugged into X-10 appliance modules so I can do the ac reboot trick from anywhere in the house with small keypad remotes.

It got to be a pain to pull the wall unit out and unplug a cord once in a while. The modules work great and can be bought from most hardware stores. Also make sure you use a good surge protector for your equipment.

I`m also glad to hear your satellite receiver is back up and running.

I have X10 also, but I don't have any receivers hooked to them though. I have the X10 hooked to most of the lights in the house. Works great.

The best place to get X10 is E-Bay. You can get 2 modules for the price of 1 and the whole units are cheaper too plus they throw in extra's sometimes.

I have a Small Office type APC UPS/Surge Arrest hooked up to all my gear. If my equipment gets zapped by a surge, APC guarantees it up to $10,000, plus it will run my gear for about 15 minutes in case of a power outage.

With the warranty just wait till your 30 days is up if you need to make a claim.
