Any tidbits from your contacts at D*? Any feedback at all about some of the ever increasing reports of similar problems? Seems like the engineers would be working 24/7 on some of these issues, any word from the war room?

I'm stuck at work this week and a lot of folks are too. That being said, a lot of folks are on vacation, and they tend to be the ones with seniority. I think I'd just as soon wait for a firmware update until after the first of the year when all hands are on deck. Given the history with this products, I'd expect a release about January 10 that doesn't have any new features, just "Additional Stability Fixes", but probably solves 75-80% of the Black Screen Bugs, and possibly the "can't reboot when network cable is plugged in" bug.

Exactly.

I do know they still have people that are looking at the forum and working on the next update, but most of the people I talk with are out till after the New Year

Yep, if they were looking this weekend they got an eye full. Seems that while you moderators were spending some hard earned break time with the family, some got out of control here.

But that is a DBSTalk holliday tradition! We all have the nagging inlaws in that ***** and moan about the littlest things "Ya know (insert name here) your (insert brother/sister/ect..) HDDVR, DVR, ect... dosent do that, yes i know (insert inlaw name) but (so and so's name) has Cable(or Dish, ect..) and overpays how much (or has less piture quality, channels, ect..) that we do.

Thus generating the rehashing of old stuff on the boards.
