Ok, Earl,

It's now December, most of us have realized that Dec. 1 was a target and not the real date. And we're up to "Very Soon" Woohoo!

But we still have the outstand question, what else besides OTA will be released. Perhaps this question will pique your humor a bit and reveal some more underneath that armor:

Will the "other stuff", the "Christmas Gift", require a major change to the user's manual, say more than 30 pages?
Or 20 pages?
Or a few pages?
Or no changes?

:)

Thanks for all the good fun and all the hard work,
Tom

A few pages...

But IMHO... at this point, the entire manual needs a re-write.

I agree... You know though that most user manuals today are just as bad. Not enough good quality technical writers out there any more.... Or rather most companies don't want to pay for good quality writers. Who needs them... That's what spell check and grammar check are for

Earl, will we all be "airing" out our differences from coast to coast over the next few days? ;)

Can't we all just "get" along? Or is that just "Oh Too much to Ask" ? ;)

Can we expect an updated manual anytime soon? If it's just available as a PDF download I'll be happy.

No idea... my guess is that some time next year, there will have to be a re-write, as there will be so many "additional" things you can do with the HR20, that are not covered in the manual.

My day job is technical writing and I really wish DirecTV would hire me to re-write the manual. :)
Chris, perhaps if you published a thread here containing a suggested TOC highlighting the things you know are coming soon...:sure:

Cheers,
Tom

Any chance the new manual would be a little more comprehensive? It seems like they left many things out (how to do x,y,z). I'm at work or I'd post a few examples of the topics not covered. I think conflict resolution was one of them that either wasn't covered or wasn't covered well.

Much of Mellomindbender's gathered info should be included.

Is "no comment" ranked higher than "very soon"
"no comment" is in gamma test phase as the replacement for "very soon" since the October OTA non-event. ;)
