One word, dear friends: DISAPPOINTED.

I watched "Ice" almost all the way through. The views were beautiful. The science? There was none. The sympathy/appreciation for nature? Not really. The host/narrator? I was disappointed most of all with Dr Iain Stewart. He seemed to be talking to a child the whole time, in a sort of secret whisper voice.

I canceled my series link and deleted the other episodes.

I guess I'm glad I bought the whole set of Planet Earth.

Three in a row for Planet Earth.

The one I loved was called, I think, The History of the Earth. It was a 2 hour Science Channel piece that went over the Earth, starting 4.6 billion years ago, to the present. It was very good. Tight science even tighter told. I knew about Pangaea and the continental plates coming together, but I didn't realize it's actually happened twice before and we're right now heading for a third. I sort of knew about Snowball Earth, but I didn't realize how all encompassing and long lasting it was. The Earth was frozen solid for millions of years. There were those kind of revelations again and again. I've recorded and deleted it twice. Next time it's a keeper.

I didn't catch this one, but it didn't seem, from the commercials, to top Planet Earth. I guess I didn't miss anything.

Planet Earth = awesomeness.

I have this recorded on the HD DVR in my back room, sounds like I will be disappointed.

Well, I tried to watch tonight's episode, but from the time the host opened his mouth, it was all I could do to keep from cracking up. I kept expecting the show to turn into a Monty Python skit and it didn't help with the odd ways he popped in at the beginning tonight.

Another vote for Planet Earth, have the BluRay set

His voice annoyed me. I was going to watch Rare Planet today - the graphics were ok and I was slightly interested.

But the voice is annoying.
