What this might do for us, John .. or anyone? :)
Looks like nothing for close to 2 yrs.

EchoStar filed a modification application3 to add these frequencies to its license for a next-generation Ku-/Ka-band satellite which is scheduled for launch in 2009 and will be located at the 121º W.L. orbital location.

My guess is more HD channels?

I think 121 is the "international services" satellite

Ku-DBS vs. KA comparision.

IF KU is 32 tp, KA =?.
IF KU is 9 degree separation (4.5 in a new systems) , KA=?
KA have the same capacity like KU per channel per tp?

so does this mean that the 121 superdish is going to become popular again?
Only with a conversion kit to 118.75. Ka may need an even larger dish if the DirecTV Behemoth is any indication.

Only if 121 was granted DBS TP's and they can transition all of 129 TP's over there to end this 129 low signal non-sense. The 121 satellite has exposure pretty much all over the US, vs. no coverage in the Northeast US with the 129.
