I've been having connection problems with my HR21-700 where TVersity and WMP don't recognize it. I finally checked all the settings and compared them to my HR20-700 and my HR21-100 that are working fine.

THe one difference in the settings shown on my router is that UpNP is NOT enabled on the HR21-700, but it is on the other two units.

I'm using a Westell 327 DSL Modem/Router/Wireless router. All three of the HR's are connected via Wireline Adaptors from NetGear. The HR21-700 does recognize the network and internet, and I can do DOD on it. Just can't get to Media sharing, and I'm pretty sure that it has to do with the UpNP.

The HR20-700 is on 0x254 and the other two are running 0x255.

Does anyone out here know what I can do to get it to work properly?

THanks!

I think I almost understand the question, but not quite. You've figured out that UPnP on the router needs to be enabled for the HR21-700, so why don't you enable it? Is the question about how to enable UPnP on a Westell 327W? I might be able to help, if so, since I have that modem/router and it's working with my HR20-700 for mediashare.

Greg... you're close but not there.

Evidently I do have UPnP Enabled on the modem/router since both my HR20-700 and HR21-100 show UPnP enabled and work find with TVersity and Media share.

However, the HR20-700 does connect to the network and the internet and the router sees it but when I click on the info for that device it says that UPnP is not enabled for that one device, even though it is for the other two.

THat's my conundrum... why is it working on two units and not the third.

Not evident. The Westell seems to handle this (as best I understand) by (1) using a "service" for which UPnP is enabled and (2) associating that service with specific clients. The service might be enabled for some client devices but not others. In my version of the Westell software, there's a table giving what services are enabled for what clients, which is accessible through the web interface in Configuration > Services.

So, the fact the UPnP is enabled for two of the devices on your network doesn't imply that it's enabled for all of them.

I guess that the real confusing thing for me is that I never had to do anything for the HR's that are working, my TiVO series three or my Wii... they all worked fine. It's just this one unit that's making me crazy.

That said, on my software from AT&T I can't find "configuration>services", and don't see any indication of any way to enable UPnP. Guess I'll have to keep on looking.

Thanks for the help so far...
