EPG preference lost!

905 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  tampa8
I used to have my EPG preferences on my 622 set to "all channels" now the only choices are "my channels" and "my HD channels". This changed sometime back in August or September.

Anybody know why they took the option to set "all channels" as a default? Every time I reset the EPG view it goes back to "My Channels" should I leave the guide and go back later.

What good is it to have "green channels" (channels that can be upgraded to simply by clicking in the EPG) if they no longer show up automatically?

Software update seems to have changed it. It resets itself to My Channels. Only way I found to get it to what I want is to lock out channels I don't want instead of using favorites.
Dish changed this quite sometime ago with past updates. The reason given was to "simplify." "All channels" according to them was confusing people as to what they subscribed to. I'm not home to check but on my 612 I believe "Green" channels are included in the "My Channels" guide.
It was changed so our customers would not be confused about the channels available to them. Please let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks.

Thanks.

Please pass on to the person who made that decision that the "green" channels no longer show up unless you make an effort to manually select "All channels". I Can see how "red channels" might not want to be displayed, but for those looking for NFL Red Zone it disappears from the guide every Sunday when somebody might bite the bullet and want to subscribe to the channel.

Personally I liked seeing what I'm "missing" in the guide. It was never confusing to me the difference between "all channels" any 'my channels". Were there really that many confused subscribers?

At least make "all channels" a potential setting in the defaults. Why take that option away when it used to be one of the choices? It's very frustrating to have to reset the guide every time and not have a way to make the setting stick.

Please tell the interface design people that they failed to consider those who aren't hopelessly befuddled by the concept of channel guides. If there is a custom guide active, nothing programmatic should be done to switch away from it.

Satisfaction means keeping everyone happy, not just those who are going to use the search feature find Dr. Oz regardless.
Checking when I got home, the green (available for immediate purchase channels) are not included in the new default guide. Certainly seems to defeat the purpose of those channels and vastly reduce the chance of anyone purchasing them that way.

This idea of Dish was discussed quite sometime ago when it was implemented. (On another forum, perhaps here too) It's not a welcomed change. I use a custom guide most of the time, luckily on the 612 it stays on what guide I pick, other than not staying on all channels. On the Hopper for instance it apparently defaults to All my channels all the time. Not sure about the 722.
