Will this go hd when D11 goes live? It would be nice for college football and other replays.
Do you have a source for this? I know that ESPNU is going HD in August and have seen press releases noting that, but nothing for ESPN Classic. There have been many rumors about a potential merger with the NFL Network or rebranding it as ESPN 3, going HD, and have a focus on real football (soccer) and other worldly sports.KCCardsfan said:All ESPN channels will be in HD 4th quarter this year.
ESPN has a great track record of NOT stretching SD material.bidger said:You mean like the stretched SD TBS-HD fobs off as HD? No thanks.

That is not what I meant at all. I hate stretched SD. Thankfully ESPN doesn't resort to such tactics.bidger said:You mean like the stretched SD TBS-HD fobs off as HD? No thanks.
As stated thousands of times on this forum, old SD footage looks much better when broadcast on an HD station. Also, not "all" the material for ESPN classic was shot in 480i. They broadcast "instant classics" that were shot in HD quite often.cartrivision said:What's the point, since all the source material for ESPN Classic was shot in "HD classic".... i.e. 480i.
And, much of the really old stuff was shot on film. If that source still exists, it can be converted to HDcartrivision said:What's the point, since all the source material for ESPN Classic was shot in "HD classic".... i.e. 480i.
yep....i'd rather watch an sd show on an hd channel than an sd show on an sd channel.SPACEMAKER said:As stated thousands of times on this forum, old SD footage looks much better when broadcast on an HD station.
