Since the Raycom ACC games will be in HD in the southeast over the air, will Gameplan show them in HD???

Also I am assuming the 3:30PM EST ABC regional games will be in HD on the local ABC affiliate, will they be in HD on Gameplan????

I wouldn't hold my breath. Many of the games telecast by ESPN (gameplan) don't even have an HD camera on the field. I'm hoping it will get better too. The SEC has been getting pretty good coverage from the networks as it is. I want to see the SEC Network:)

Probably won't happen with UF signing that deal with Sun Network the other day.
No HD on Gameplan this year as of the information provided right now. Only time you will get the games in HD are on another channel the game is broadcasting on.
Here is the response I received from DirecTV last week. Please contact DirecTV to request GamePlan in HD.

Dear XXXXXX,

Thanks for writing. We don't carry the ESPN GamePlan in HD right now. However, I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV management. In addition, whenever we add channels to our lineup, we release a statement to the press, so keep an eye on the news to find out about the newest channels or visit our web site at directv.com/pr. Thanks again for writing.

Sincerely, Claudette S.

If everything goes well with D11,I don't see any reason why they wouldn't make GP in HD this year.

it's not just them having the capacity
I would love it too though
The video quality on some of the telecasts is beyond awful.

Also, i never understood why DIRECTV was unable to show the start of some games because we were watching the end of some other game.

Doesnt DIRECTV have the capacity where they could put the games on their own individual channel or move them around if necessary? When the ACC JP game ends yet the SEC game is running late and shares the same channel with one of the ABC 3:30 games why don't they move it to the other channel? They run the scroll saying it will be joined at the conclusion of the game. Why don't they just switch it over to another channel and run the scroll saying that?

Thats not a Directv issue, thats an ESPN Gameplan issue. I had GP through Dish the one year I had them, they had each game on it's own channel and when 3:30 hit, you would still be seeing the end of one of the 12 noon games before the 3:30 one started on that channel.
Wow, no HD for the Gameplan? That's a bummer. :(

I'd just shot D* an e-mail asking about this, since it's not spelled out on their web site very well ... should've just looked here first.

I canceled my NFL Sunday Ticket this year in protest over having to pay the extra cost for SuperFan tier just to get HD games. So I was thinking about adding the ESPN Gameplan with the savings.

But if it doesn't have HD games, that leaves me no better off than the NFL deal. Oh well...
Since ABC will be broadcasting all the games this season in HD, it makes no sense why those games could not be shown on DirecTV in HD. They already have the feed and are showing it in HD to a portion of the country. How does the ESPN agreement for college football differ from the other pro sports packages that have most of the games in HD? Why would ESPN care if DirecTV had a 767 and a 767-1 on the ABC out of market broadcast?

Could be that ESPN/ABC are not capable of distributing them all nationally.
I'd settle for the reverse mirror being in HD this year, but that's because none of my team's games will be on GP. For instance, the first week there will be a USC/Virginia & Utah/Michigan reverse mirror setup for ABC and ESPN2. Now if they setup the USC game as being primarily on ESPN2 and the Michigan game as primarily on ABC, then in markets where the USC game is on ABC that game should be in HD, but the Michigan game will be on an ESPN alternate channel in SD only. This is consistent with cable carriage too the USC game would be blacked out on ESPN2 (since it's on ABC) and only the SD channel for ESPN2 would be showing the Michigan game.

We need Disney to setup HD versions of the ESPN Alternate channels.
i think it is all dollars and cents .....as soon as the ncaa figures out how much money they can make , then i think you will see this happen ,,,, i think 1st off the games have to be broadcast somewhere in HD ....the thing that still pzzles me , and it nust be a rights thing , most highlight are in SD , even if they were in hd at game time unless it is carried by that network ....i hate it ...hehehe..
if they could increase the quality of SD gameplan games it would be a start ...but agreed we need hd everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heck, at this point, I would be happy with something reaching the quality of Streaming Video over a 56 k connection. Last year it was bad enough watching some of the games on the 46 inch RPTV. With the 58 plasma, it should look truly horrid.
