I can see some encoding problems on ESPN HD (206) today, hard to describe, the problem is noticeable especially on green (grass) and red colors.

The problem I am seeing is hard to describe but it's like sometimes the colors are changing from dark to light colors or I can see some "movements".
The problem is really noticeable when the picture is kind of still.

You really have to pay close attention.

I was wondering if someone can see that problem, or is it my installation?

yes, I see it too, there is definitely something wrong there... strange artifacting
Thanks a lot. It isn't my installation.

So now the next step is, who do I need to contact to have that problem solved?

CSR I know is a dead end.

Satracer , or other Directv employees who are on this forum, maybe, if you read this, could you do something and let the people who deal with picture quality solve this problem.

Is it all on the European soccer? I see that a lot on live sports from Europe. Probably transcoding of standards.

No, because it does it as well when they are in live studio and when they play games in US. So not a trans coding of standards.

Now is it ESPN or Directv, who knows?

I deal with video encoding a lot so this type of thing is immediately apparent to me... and incredibly annoying, however, I don't know who to contact to fix this sort of thing as I imagine first level support would be of no help.

Hopefully someone at DirecTV will notice soon enough and see what's going on...

And yes, it's on ALL content, even commercials.

When did this start? I have watched many of the EURO2012 games as of late, and have not noticed the problem.... but then, the last one I watched complete was Italy vs England last weekend. I did not notice any problems at that moment....

I have also watched a few games in a local pub, they have DirecTV and there were no problems there either.

Since you mention "when they play games in the U.S", just wondering how long this problem has been existing.

I can tell you exactly when it started.
It started yesterday during the game Spain VS Portugal at 80:25 minutes during that game. I recorded it, and checked when exactly it started.

At that precise moment, the picture blinked for a short period of time and then the problem started.

At the beginning, I thought it was coming from Europe transmission and didn't really pay close attention .
But I checked after on it, during live US events or live studio. The problem was and is still here.

Saw the problem on Wimbledon this morning. Did not see it on Fios, so it is a DirecTV related problem. (Did *not* see it on commercial, only the grass on the court.)

Yes BUT I was wondering if it's the real ESPN (206) and not one of the mapping 700 channels for Wimbledon. I doubt it, but you never know
It was doing it earlier today and was even noticeable on the small mix channel version that remapped ESPN.

Interesting. Maybe a problem in the connection between DirecTV and ESPN, then.
