I am presently observing those three HD channel breaking up at a Washington, DC in two different systems. One us a Lodgenet free-to guest, using 1.2 meter dishes, LG Pro Idiom encoders and LG pro idiom TVs

In the lounge, where there are two H25s coming off a SWiM dish, they are experiencing the same thing. It seems it must be either a satellite problem or a microwave problem. The regional engineer for this hotel says they are not getting reports of it at any of their half dozen other local properties

FWIW, beginning in late July, 2001, I had a rooftop getting absolutely blasted by microwave radiation, to the point where they could not get STD HBO at all. I even set up a dish down in the parking lot and dropped a 150' coax down the side of the building, and while that significantly reduced the breakups , they were still unacceptable. The problem persisted for half a year, and then it went completely away.

Is anyone else anywhere having trouble with ESPN, ESPN2 or HBO HD?

We've gotten zonked by radar before. These hotels are about a mile or two to the northeast of National Airport and the Pentagon and CIA headquarters. Starting in late July of 2001, we were getting absolutely blasted by some kind of microwave interference in cycles of about twenty five to thirty seconds. It wildly obliterated the entire 950-1.450 spectrum image displayed on my spectrum analyzer, and made all of the HBOs unwatchable.

The FCC ignored my requests for help. Around maybe December of 2001 or January or 2002, this customer stopped reporting HBO troubles and I never saw evidence of this particular interference again. It is my suspicion that our government was concerned that an attack was imminent somewhere and this microwave radar was part of whatever they were doing to try to detect it.

I would prefer that interference be constant because then I can know if I have it licked or not. On a highrise building rooftop, if the dish is on a non-penetrating mount, one can move the dish around the brick mechanical room that houses the elevator motors and get natural shielding that way, but when I had the trouble in the summer of 2001, it didn't matter where the dish was placed, meaning me think it was some kind of aerial-based "look down" radar.
