I received an HR21-100 yesterday. I tried to configure Network but I am getting error 9. I know the cable is good as I plugged it into my laptop with success. The Ethernet light only blinks and I get nothing on the activity light. Any thoughts? I'm running SW v255.

Two things:
1. Are you plugged into the top port? (you should have two - second acts as a switch to run to another device)
2. Try a reboot.

If it still doesn't work, just try the second port and see what happens. I seem to remember occasional reports that for some reason switching ports was the solution. Appears some may have been wired/installed backwards.

Thanks.

I again this morning tried both ports, rebooted with both ports, upgrade my router firmware (linksys WRT54GS v2). I continue to get error 9 (Ethernet cable not connected)

Other thoughts?

Well, just for the S&Gs of it I went ahead and recrimped the cable and the damn thing worked. I must have had something mixed up. The computer could deal with it, but the DVR couldn't. Time to see what VOD has in store...
