I've seen three revs now... and as far as I can tell no major bugs have been fixed. In fact, my impression is things are worse. I see more black screens system sieze ups and lost recordings.
I guess I could read the claims in the release notes, but what does this gang think?

I've had my HR20 since the beginning. Believe me, things are much better off now than they were back in September. Still a good amount of defects to be corrected. Hopefully the fixes for the remaining major problems come sooner rather than later.

The one I wanted most was the fix to manual recurring recordings.

Getting the Dolby Digital setting working right was nice but not that big a deal since you could just reverse it to get what you wanted.

Adding the missing OTA functionality was a huge deal for many folks, though not, strictly speaking, a bug (though it would have graduated to bug status on 1/1/07 :D).

While we're on the topic of technically-not-a-bugs:

There is only one major bug, that MAYBE and I again say MAYBE was fixed, and that is the Partial Bug as described here I say MAYBE because I have read some descriptions that look like they might match this bug. If it is not resolved it looks like it may have been reduced. Other than that, if you are talking about major bugs that either affect stability, or a recording they are all still in the system. I would say they seem to run hot and cold, when they mainly seemed to run hot but that might just be the informal type of bug recording that goes on in the forum.

While I would agree that user interface bugs have improved since the Sep releases of code, I would disagree about the most of the major bugs in the system. If you review the Catalog of bugs, many of the bugs I documented also include reference to when they were first reported, most of which go back to the original release and include links to those posts, and I also included reference to where those bugs where referenced by others in 0x10B.

Yes if you look at the release notes of 0x10b it says they fixed the manual recording bug, again that statement should of been prefaced with NOT!!! The manual bug lives large in 0x10B

I think that things have definitely gotten better since release 0xfa. Last week was the only time that I had trouble. But it has been good other than that.
Well I have to disagree, at best you could describe 0xFA as equal. What happens with the bugs in the HR20 is it is almost like a switch is thrown and what looks to have been a quite reasonable system starts to go terribly wonky for a users. This can happen early on in the release, or it apparently never happens for some people, also a wonky hr20 can all the sudden start working great, you just don't know when and what is going to happen. Sometimes it just starts subtly going weird, like my box is currently just canceling a lot of recordings I have set that are not series links and I have not crashed for at least a week. Who knows what is happening under the covers, but I do know it is not better.

Someone should have a list of the bugs at D*, ranked in order of severity.
There should be a feature freeze and the new releases should fix these bugs.

No need to stop adding new features just to iron out the defects. I'm sure the HR20 development team is large enough that a couple of the programmers can work on new features and the others can worry about fixing existing problems. If there was a "feature freeze" as you call it, I'm not sure we would have gotten OTA turned on yet.
