Hi. I'm new to the forum. I have a client who got the HR20 from CC in 9/06 when it first came out. He is (suprise, suprise) incredible unhappy with this (to use his exact words) POS.

My question is this...

Should he raise hell w/DTV and/or CC and get it exchanged for another HR20? Or should he just wait out the numerous software updates that lie ahead? It seems that all the problems are software-related, and that exchanging the actual unit will do him no good at all. Maybe some of the long-time posters can give me a definitive answer on this.

BTW, the "problems" he's unhappy with are all related to the unit's unreliability, and its apparent inability to accomplish something as simple as recording a show from the season pass. In other words, we ARE NOT concerned with HDMI issues, OTA issues, etc.

Which show is not recording properly?

If he is willing to exchange the unit, then he should be willing to perform the full system rest (the reformatting) of the unit, which has resulted in better results for some users.

As for the software updates... DirecTV is working on those stability issues....

I don't think swapping it out is going to fix it. I swapped two out an it didn't fix the problem, so it's probably best to wait for the updates to fix the problem.
