While exploring the echostar commercial services website, I came across references to a set of recievers that will work with the QAM encoding, including versions of the x900 series (2900-4900) what I thought was interesting is while they seemed to have specialized versions of the stand-alone IRDs, they also listed the 501 and 508 standard versions as QAM compatable.

From what I've read, the broadcomm chip used for 8PSK is really an 8PSK/QAM chip, so I was curious if this meant that the 50x series could potentially work with 8PSK SDTV feeds, I know it won't do HD, but with 8PSK you could either increase bitrate or add several channels per transponder, right?

THanks

No, the BCRM chip is 8PSK/16QAM Turbo decoder while the other
does not have Turbo decoder.
